She is the founder of Claan, a studio established in 2008, and DESIGNEDIN, a child-first social venture where she develops projects and learning experiences such as KI-KreativClub, exploring how design and technology can support agency, participation, and meaningful change.
She taught at the Institute of Education of the University of Minho and at the School of Architecture, Art and Design – UMinho Mais Digital. Her work focuses on child-centered AI, digital rights, and the ethical integration of emerging technologies in learning and cultural contexts, with a strong commitment to children’s perspectives, care, and well-being.
Clara has contributed to public debates and creative innovation as a columnist for PÚBLICO, a mentor at NEW INC (the incubator for Art, Design and Technology at the New Museum, New York), and a volunteer with Designing for Children’s Rights (D4CR). She has also led training and workshops on post-digital education, participatory methodologies, AI literacy, and co-creation with AI. Her practice bridges theory and action through collaborative, future-facing approaches that connect design, technology, and social impact.
